
The Florida Police Chiefs Association is proud to announce that State Senator Fred Dudley of Cape Coral is being recognized by the Association with a Legislative Award for his assistance to the Association during the 1998 Legislative Session and throughout his tenure in the Florida Legislature. Senator Dudley, who is leaving the Legislature to run for the statewide office of Attorney General, sponsored and passed a bill in 1998 which increased the penalties for fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. Also, as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Vice-Chairof the Ways and Means Committee, he helped to advance the Association's primary issue, the re-institution of an important source of training flinds for local law enforcement agencies. Serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 1982 to 1986, Senator Dudley was first elected to The Florida Senate in 1986. During his distinguished career in the Senate, Senator Fred Dudley received any honors and awards and often demonstrated his concern for public safety and the problems faced by local law enforcement agencies.
