The Florida Police Chiefs Association is proud to announce that State Representative Burt Sanders of Naples is being recognized by the Association with a 1998 Legislative Award. Representative Saunders helped the Association advance its primary issue, which involved the re-establishment of an important source of funding for law enforcement training. This issue was contained in a bill that established a source of funding for Crimestoppers programs, also a matter of great importance for the Association, Representative Saunders continuously provided support of the Association on many other issues. Representative Saunders has served in local government as well as the state legislature, and has always demonstrated a commitment to public safety and a concern for the needs of local law enforcement agencies.
