Resolution 2002-5, on our 50th Anniversary recognizing Past Presidents for thier leadership and unselfish efforts on behalf of the Florida Police Chiefs Association.

WHEREAS, the Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA) was established in 1952 to enhance the safety and security of the millions of people who live, work and play in the State of Florida, and

WHEREAS, the membership has grown to include more than 600 of the state's law enforcement executives, including municipal police departments, college and university police, private business and security firms, as well as federal, state and county law enforcement agencies, and

WHEREAS, through conferences, seminars, and special training courses, the Association ensures the highest degree of preparedness and responsiveness, facilitates the dissemination of information, encourages cooperation and collaboration amongst all levels of law enforcement, and fosters the highest degree of police professionalism and competence, and

WHEREAS, the Association maintains a strong presence in Tallahassee, regularly testifies on legislative issues, and it's members are frequently recognized by the legislative leaders to provide insight into public safety issues and problems facing the criminal justice system, and

WHEREAS, the Florida Police Chiefs Association has been recognized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the State Associations of Chiefs of Police (SACOP) as a model for other states.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Florida Police Chiefs Association recognizes and highly commends Past President, Chief Keith Chandler for his leadership and efforts that helped to shape our organization, allowing us to enhance the public safety, and ensure that the State of Florida continues to be a place where our common values of freedom, prosperity and equality can flourish.

Passed and adopted this 30th day of June, 2002, in Hollywood, Florida, at a duly constituted meeting of the Board of Directors of the Florida Police Chiefs Association.
