Resolution 2003-5, strongly suggests
that Florida law enforcement agencies establish a requirement that individuals seeking
promotion to a supervisory or administrative position possess a degree from an institute
of higher learning.
WHEREAS, the Florida Police Chiefs
Association is committed to enhancing the quality of life and safety of the millions
of people who live, work and play in the State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Association is committed to
improving the effectiveness of law enforcement throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, the Association is aware that many law enforcement agencies throughout
the state and nation have increased their educational standards that require individuals
seeking managerial and supervisory positions possess a degree from an institute of higher
learning; and
WHEREAS, the Association recognizes that numerous studies have shown that there
are significant differences in the performance of individuals who have completed courses
of higher education.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the
Florida Police Chiefs Association strongly suggests that all law enforcement agencies
in the State of Florida establish an educational requirement that individuals seeking
promotion to a supervisory or administrative position possess a degree from an institute
of higher learning.

constituted meeting of the Board of Directors of the Florida Police Chiefs Association.
