With
an interest in maintaining the quality of police management in Florida, the
Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA), along with it’s Foundation has
positioned itself as an obvious partner to assist municipalities across the
State of Florida in the search for the right individual to lead their police
departments.
The
FPCA will undertake, on behalf of contracted Florida municipalities, the advertising
and screening process for the position of Chief of Police and other top police
executive positions to include Deputy Assistant or designated second in command
positions within the Police Department.
The Executive Search will be designed to meet your needs. You will
have a variety of services to choose from that include advertisement,
screening of applicants, examination processes, reference checks, and
recommendations for appointment to include salary and benefit advisement.
The principal contact for FPCA’s
Executive Search Program is Amy Mercer, Executive Director. Consultant staff will be selected from a
field of professional colleagues (Chiefs of Police and Retired Chiefs of
Police), from across the State. This
contracting service will be conducted on a timely schedule and in accordance
with standards for the service.
Summary of
Services Offered:
Advertising
Included in this effort will be
advertisements for the position.
Initially, a recruitment announcement will be sent to every FPCA member,
750+. Additionally, the advertisement will be placed on various Law Enforcement
Organizations websites including National and State organizations. Advertisements will also be placed in the
FPCA Newsletter if publication is timely.
Screening,
Interview and Examination
Upon entering a contract, the FPCA will
then perform a resume review and narrow down the applicants to any number
proposed by the client municipality. FPCA continues their support with Oral
Examination preparation and production of evaluation forms. FPCA Review Board
members are selected to assist in conducting the Oral Interview and possible
assessment exercises. After evaluating and scoring the exercise, the FPCA will
coordinate arrangements to meet with the municipality representatives to
present the search/evaluation results and answer questions.
Oral Testing Services
FPCA along with its Foundation also
provides oral testing services for other top-level officers and promotional
interviews, up to and including Chiefs interviews. FPCA oral interviews are
board-style with three senior members of the Association asking a series of
questions, written expressly for the department in question. Other assessment
exercises agreed upon by contract will be provided by FPCA staff members and
outside contractors.
