Through the Directors Choice
Award, the Florida Police Chiefs Association recognizes an individual for exceptional
performance and/or their support and advancement of the law enforcement profession.
NOMINATIONS:The nomination, which is
limited to three pages, can be made by any member of the Board of Directors and
should reflect on the following:
- Ability to be progressive, innovative, and professional in the
management of his/her department, and/or;
- Involvement with the community he/she serves, and/or;
- Involvement with local, county, state or national organizations to further and promote
the law enforcement profession.
DEADLINE: The deadline for receipt of nominations
is April 15th. Nominations should be sent directly to the Association Headquarters:

AWARD PROCESS
The following process has been established to coordinate and facilitate the Directors
Choice Award program:
- Board members should submit their nominations to Association Headquarters in
accordance with the established procedures and timelines outlined herein.
- Headquarters will distribute all of the nominations received to Committee Chair
(appointed annually by the current President) and members of the Executive Board.
- The Committee Chair, will confer with members of the Executive Board and
facilitate the selection of an individual from the nominations, for the award.
AWARDS
PRESENTATION: The plaque for the Directors Choice Award will be presented by
the President and Committee Chairman during the Summer Conference banquet.
TIMETABLE:
The following timetable has been established for submission, selection,
notification and presentation of the Directors Choice Award:
- March 1 - The President appoints a Committee
Chairman to coordinate and oversee the awards process for the Directors Choice Award. The Board of Directors
are notified of the process and the cutoff date for nominations.
- April 15 - Deadline for nomination for
consideration. Any individual nominated after this date will not be elligible.
- April 30 - Nominations are distributed by
Headquarters to the Committee Chair and members of the Executive Board.
- May 15 - Recipient is determined by the Committee
Chair and Executive Board.
- Presentation of award is made during the Annual Summer Conference Installation and Awards Banquet.
