The Florida Police Chiefs Association, has established the following awards to recognize law enforcement professionals who have distinguished themselves in service to their agencies, commmunities and/or fellow members.

Directors Choice Award

An individual is recognized for exceptional performance and/or their support and advancement of the law enforcement profession.

Lee McGehee Police Officer of the Year Award

The recipient is selected by a committee and the Executive Board. Nominations may be made for exceptional achievement in any police endeavor, including extraordinary valor, crime prevention, investigative work, community policing, traffic safety, drug control and prevention, juvenile programs and training programs.

Explorer Scholarship Awards

The recipients are recommended by a committee and selected by the Foundation's Board of Trustees during the the summer meeting at the Florida Police Chiefs Annual Summer Conference. The Foundation offers several $1,000 scholarships each year to Police Explorers who have excelled academically and who have served their post and community with distinction.

Public Private Partnership Committee Awards

Established in 2011, the purpose of these awards is to provide a mechanism for the Florida Police Chiefs Association and the Private Security Partnership Committee to anually recognize public private partnerships or mutual ventures and individuals who have successfully contributed to Florida law enforcement agencies.

Rocky Pomerance Law Enforcement Excellence Award

The Rocky Pomerance Law Enforcement Excellence Award provides a mechanism for the Florida Police Chiefs Association to recognize member agencies for developing and implementing an innovative approach to policing. This award has been named in honor of Rocky Pomerance, who has been recognized as exemplifying the image of an innovative and visionary leader who furthered the mission of the Florida Police Chiefs Association and the law enforcement profession within Florida.

Wall of Honor Awards

This Award and Wall of Honor at FPCA headquarters will immortalize those persons who contributed greatly to the FPCA. The recipients are recommended by current or past members of the FPCA and forwarded to the Awards Committee for their review. The process for recognition will require a unanimous vote of all committee members and ties shall be broken through the process of a second vote where the highest number of 1st place ballots will designate the award recipient.
