Members, you are Invited...

The Florida Police Chiefs Association is holding its Mid-Winter Conference and Exposition from January 14-17, 2001, at the World Golf Village Resort Hotel, in St. Augustine, Florida and you are cordially invited to attend. Once again, Chief Rick Overman and the members of the Training Committee have put together an outstanding program which will address the contemporary needs of law enforcement administrators around the state.

Dr. Kevin M. Gilmartin,  Ph.D,  will be our featured speaker on Monday, January 15,  starting at 9:00 a.m.  until noon and then again from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.  The title of his presentation will be, "Malcontent & Problem Cops:  An Organizational Intervention."  Dr. Martin's presentation is designed to assist law enforcement executives by reviewing the individual development and impact of high-risk officers by increasing the awareness of the changes that occur across the span of a law enforcement career.  The dynamics that can transform idealistic and committed employees into angry and cynical individuals will be examined.  Dr. Gilmartin's goal is to provide information that permits law enforcement executives to review strategies for prevention and intervention of problem officers and to assist effective employees to allow them to continue investing positively in their professional position. Dr. Gilmartin will also discuss,  "Survival Techniques for the Chief Executive."

On Tuesday,  January 16,  beginning at 9:00 a.m. until noon,  Chief Marshall Gage and members of the Technology Committee will present a program entitled, "The Purchase and Implementation of Technology within a Police Department."  Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss contemporary problems and issues at an "Open Forum" scheduled from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Conference forums will also focus on legislative initiatives slated for 2001 and we will take a look at the latest in police training, equipment and services at our Exposition.

Exhibits:

Monday, January 15, 2001 - Tuesday, January 16th, 2001. Exhibition times are set around training and food breaks for maximum exposure. Setup will be on Monday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The exhibition area will open at 1:00 p.m. and will be the site of a reception from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. The exhibit hours for Tuesday are from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Our booth space has been sold out for the past four Mid-Winter Expositions.
