Members, you are Invited...

The Florida Police Chiefs Association is holding its Mid-Winter Conference and Exposition from January 13-16, 2002, at the World Golf Village Resort Hotel, in St. Augustine, Florida and you are cordially invited to attend. Given the events of September 11, Chief Ed Morley and the members of the Training Committee have put together a program to address our developing role in the defense of our Nation from the acts of terrorists. On Monday, January 14, 2002, U.S. Attorney Guy Lewis, will speak on the "Joint Terrorism Task Force." Following Mr. Lewis, we will hear from FBI Special Agent, Carry Meyers on "Weapons of Mass Destruction," and FBI Special Agent Bob Coffey on "Critical Infrastructure Protection Plan." Later, FBI Special Agent Steve Miller will address "Domestic Terrorism."

Tuesday's program will begin with a presentation on the "Curriculum Maintenance System" by Pat Melton and Kim Allen of FDLE and Donna Hodges, also of FDLE will discuss the "Amber Plan." Following lunch, Chief Paul Rumbley will provide us with a report on the "Police Officer Retention Study."

As in our past programs, we will discuss contemporary problems and issues during an"Open Forum," will focus on legislative initiatives slated for 2002, and take a look at the latest in police training, equipment, products and services at our Exposition.

Registration/Cost

The cost for the Chief Executive or Initial Registrant (FPCA Member) to attend the conference is only $225 if paid by December 14, 2001 and $250 thereafter. Chief Executive or Initial Registrant (Non FPCA Member) may attend for $275 if registered by December 14, 2001 and $300 thereafter.

Members of your Command Staff (FPCA member) may also attend at a cost of only $175 if registration is made by December 14, 2001 and $225 thereafter. Non FPCA Members of your Command Staff may attend for $225 if registered by December 14, 2001 and $250 thereafter.

Exhibits:

Monday, January 14, 2002 - Tuesday, January 15th, 2002. Exhibition times are set around training and food breaks for maximum exposure. Setup will be on Monday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The exhibition area will open at 12:00 p.m. and will be the site of a reception from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. The exhibit hours for Tuesday are from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Our booth space has been sold out for the past four Mid-Winter Expositions. We anticipate that more than 126 vendors will attend...making this the largest Mid-Winter Conference ever! Our vendors have promised some great door prizes. In fact, Scott Smith Harley Davidson will be giving a 2002 Harley Davidson Road King, equipped with strobes and siren, to some lucky police agency.
