Position: Deputy Sheriff with Experience
Educational Requirements: High School Graduate
HOURS: Full-time, 12-hour shifts, weekends and
holidays. 24-hour operation. May be called in for emergencies or to
accommodate staffing requirements.
SALARY: $33,362 GED/HS degree; $34,862 AA/AS
degree; $36,362 BA/BS degree Plus educational incentive pay. Bi-weekly pay
period. Take home vehicle. Off-duty Court and Call-Out Pay minimum of three
(3) hours. Agency supported opportunity for off duty assignments paid at
overtime rate. 1% A YEAR - UP TO 10% ABOVE BASE SALARY FOR EXPERIENCE.
DESCRIPTION: Responsible work of a general law
enforcement nature with primary emphasis on the protection of life and property, the
enforcement of local ordinances, and state and federal laws. Deputy Sheriffs are
provided with uniforms, state of the art communications equipment including lap top
computers, firearms, and other safety and enforcement related tools.
TRAINING: Sixteen (16) weeks of agency conducted field
training covering operations, policies/procedures, proper wearing of uniform and equipment,
duties of the position including vehicle operation, law enforcement techniques, and report
writing. In-service training to maintain current FDLE/CJSTC Law Enforcement
certification is also provided.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma/GED
- At least three (3) years experience as a law enforcement officer
- Current FDLE/CJSTC Florida Law Enforcement certification
- Current, valid Florida driver’s license
- Must be of good morale character with no felony or misdemeanor
convictions involving moral character or false statements
- Good driving record with no DUI charge in last ten (10) years
- Good employment record with no serious disciplinary findings
SELECTION:
The most qualified applicants will be scheduled for an oral board interview
with various representatives of the Sheriff's Office. Selected applicants
must successfully complete the requirements of a conditional employment offer and
a pre-employment background investigation.

Currently forty-two hour work week (12 hour shifts).
Full uniform & equipment issuance including body armor, firearm, & dry cleaning.
Overtime at 1 ½ pay.

Position: Chief of Police
Starting Salary: $61,262
Educational Requirement: Bachelors Degree
The City of Ormond Beach, Florida (population 40,000), located on
central Florida's beautiful east coast, is currently seeking a highly qualified police professional to direct
its State accredited Police Department. The Chief of Police position is appointed by the City Manager and
directs the activities of a municipal Police department; manages an annual operating budget of $7.3 million, 67
sworn officers and 22 non-sworn employees. Ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, sound financial
management and budgeting skills. Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement to include
five years at a senior management level is required. Successful candidate must hold a Bachelors Degree from
an accredited college or university in criminal justice, or a related field supplemented by formal training in law
enforcement and public or police administration. Individual is required to be certified by the State of
Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission either upon hire or within 6 months of employment;
executive law enforcement training with the FBI National Academy is preferred.
