February 1, 2002 2002 Mid-Winter Conference Most of us have recently returned from the Florida Police Chiefs Mid-Winter Conference in St. Augustine where we had one of our most productive meetings. Chief Edward M. Morley of the Stuart Police Department and his committee did a great job in scheduling training, while Hal Robbins and Amy Mercer generated a strong effort in coordinating the entire event. Our next effort will be meeting with the legislative delegation over the many weeks they are in session. I hope everyone who can participate will be involved in our "Adopt a Legislative Program," and will attend our Legislative Breakfast on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at 7:15 a.m. on the 22nd floor of the Capital Building. This effort is really important and ensures that our voice is heard in the legislature. Every Chief should attend the Legislative Breakfast or visit the State House during the legislative session, as this one of only a few opportunities we have each year to meet with our legislators. Our presence does make a difference.
