A message from FPCA's President, Chief Gary R. Grosser:
"National Police Week"
May 1, 2000
As you know, National Police Week 2000 will be held May 13 -16, 2000.
This is a time when Florida's Law Enforcement Agencies honor the men and
women who have paid the ultimate price to ensure that we enjoy the liberty
and freedom upon which this country was founded. Throughout this state's
history, more than 532 law enforcement officers have been killed in the line
of duty.
I ask each of you to take time to remember and honor these men and women
who exemplify the best of America. Their memory teaches us to savor the
blessings of living in a free society and recognize the virtue of their
sacrifice. Unfortunately, National Police Week reminds each of us that
public safety comes at a great price.
May God bless the many fallen heroes that we honor this month, and may
He bless those who stand ready each and every day to protect and defend our
precious liberties.
