We're two months away from the end of my year as president of the FPCA. My
last presidents message, due next month, will highlight the accomplishments
the association had this year. As you'll see, we've accomplished a lot, and
have a lot to be proud of. As they say, however, that's another story to be
told another time. This month, I want to spend tell you about the
accomplishments of many chiefs who have taken time from their own
communities to work in the interest of the florida police chiefs
association...in other words, for all of us.
First, strong words of praise must be given to the executive committee:
Lee Cote, Roy Arigo, Paul Rumbley, Jim Isom, Frank Ross, and Hal Robbins
have done everything I've asked of them...and other things of their own
volition. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the affairs of the
association are in good hands as the next several years pass, because of the
quality of the people we have on our executive committee.
All of these folks have been actively involved in development of our
strategic plan, Paul Rumbley has taken on recruitment and retention as a
cause, chairing that committee and the officer of the year committee; Frank
Ross is chairing our re-districting committee, Lee Cote serves on a joint
committee between us, FDLE, the Standards Commission, the Sheriffs
Association and the Commission on Accreditation; Roy Arigo has represented
us at various meetings, and all have given of their time by numerous trips
to Tallahassee, Standards Commission meetings, and our monthly conference
calls. Jim Isom has actively participated in conference calls, and serves
as treasurer of the foundation, in addition to his duties on the
association's executive committee.
This association is blessed with many chiefs serving with distinction on
too many committees to mention is this limited space. My extreme
appreciation is given to all of you who have served us during the past year,
and I'm convinced you'll continue working with those who follow me.
Thank you all for a very good year. You've truly lived up to our goal to
make this year the "year of the member."
