May 1, 2003 Thank You to Those Abroad and Those at Home We highly commend the successful efforts of our armed services in securing Iraq. This offensive apparently has kept those responsible for terrorist acts, on the run. Our alert level has been reduced to yellow, but as we know, this is not a time to let down our guard. We must be ever vigilant. Our challenges remain and we must continue to work diligently to protect our homeland. The threat of terrorism will likely be unending throughout the years to come. Our communities continue to rely on us for security and information on how they can partner in keeping our families safe. Each of us has a slightly different vision as to the needs of our citizens, but one thing is for certain, we must keep our guard up. We thank the members of our armed forces for their bravery, commitment and sacrifice in protecting our freedom from foreign threats and we praise the women and men who serve in our ranks and protect our citizens everyday. Our fellow law enforcement members perform with bravery and commitment everyday to keep our communities safe. And, I thank you for your leadership and vision in providing direction and advice to your governmental leaders as it relates to homeland security. On the state level political front, our legislative efforts have met with some success. Now that the legislative session is ending, we will be providing a recap, specifically citing these issues as well as areas that we must continue to address in the future. My personal thanks to those of you, who were able to attend the legislative session and share the FPCA position with our political leaders.
