                  "A Successful & Rewarding Year"

As I write this last President's Message, I'm compelled to reflect back on the many accomplishments that took place throughout FPCA this past year. As I've said before, in order for our association to function correctly, we must be willing to serve the members. That principle also applies when FPCA provides leadership to other agencies. When leaders serve those who are serving, amazing things will take place.

As president of the Florida Police Chief's Association, I have thoroughly enjoyed this partnership with our members. That partnership is magnified as I reflect back on my interactions with the staff, executive committee, and board of directors. On many occasions I have sought your advice and asked for your guidance. Every time, you have delivered. Because of your diligence and your serving hearts, this has been a very successful and rewarding year for our association.

The FPCA will continue to be successful as we aggressively work to complete our goals and objectives. Success will be assured because the leadership of this organization has vision. I agree with author Steven K. Scott who writes, "When we have no vision, we lose our direction, our motivation, our joy, our passion, our energy, our creativity, and our commitment." I can confidently say that our association is enjoying success today because historically our leadership has been a people of vision. We are in a great position today because our current and future leaders are also people of great vision.

To say that I have enjoyed serving as your president would be an understatement. I have fully embraced this opportunity and will forever be grateful for this experience. I pledge to continue serving the FPCA membership in any manner deemed appropriate by our new president and executive board.

I pray that God will bless each of you and your families in the days to come.

Sincerely and gratefully,

Nolan
