June 1, 2003 Thank You for the Chance to Serve A year has past since my election to the presidency of the Florida Police Chiefs Association. It has been a rewarding experience and I hope I have lived up to your expectations. We are fortunate to have a very competent staff - Executive Director Hal Robbins, Operations Manager Amy Mercer, Administrative Assistant Merrily Herrmann, and our new magazine Editor Karen Thurston Chavez. My personal thanks to them for their support and assistance throughout my tenure as President. We have a great Executive Board with very capable vice presidents advancing through the chairs. They were a great support throughout the year and worked very diligently to make this a successful year. We fine-tuned our Strategic Plan to include four strategic priorities: Leadership, Quality in Policing, Legislative Issues and Financial Stability. We developed key intended outcomes in each priority and initiatives that will lead us toward these desired outcomes. We identified 32 initiatives and have accomplished a great deal on each. Twenty-seven of these initiatives have been completed, with the remainder to be completed within the next year. Hopefully, we have further strengthened the foundation on which the FPCA was built and have even better prepared the association to address future challenges. The Florida Sheriffs Association and the Florida State Attorneys Association are strong partners. Our financial platform is stable and our new president, Chief Paul Rumbly, is a strong leader with wonderful ideas. He is a person for whom I have great respect and feel fortunate to call a friend. As my presidency draws to a close, I thank you for the opportunity to lead the Florida Police Chiefs Association for the past year. It has been my pleasure to serve you and I look forward to remaining a part of this fine organization, working to unify the voices of law enforcement executives throughout the great State of Florida. Very Fondly, Roy Arigo
