We Bid Farewell

The time has come when I must bid farewell to our FPCA membership as I prepare to pass the gavel of Presidency to my friend and able leader, Chief Jay Romine of Holmes Beach Police Department. If the dozens of positive comments I've received from members all over the state, throughout the year, is an indicator of membership satisfaction with this year's leadership team, I depart with a smile on my face.

This year has been a very busy time for your board of officers and committee chairs and teams. From your initiatives and effectiveness during the legislative session in Tallahassee to making substantial progress in forging new partnerships with The Florida League of Cities and others, some former paths have been redefined and some new trails have been blazed for future Leadership.

Our year together has been one of celebrated successes, as well as sadness as we bid farewell to our friend and colleague, Executive Director Hal Robbins. The value of Hal's contribution to FPCA is immeasurable. Hal has left a legacy of professionalism, work ethic and integrity, which has set the standard for future FPCA Executive Directors.

I also want to acknowledge that the organization owes a debt of gratitude to both Amy Mercer and Merrily Herrmann for their dedication to FPCA and their willingness and ability to assume responsibility for a continued smooth operation during and after Hal's departure. We thank Merrily for being so supportive of Amy and being such an awesome team player. The board of officers are so grateful for Amy who has willingly and without hesitation, performed the duties of Interim Executive Director. FPCA is blessed to have such a competent and wonderful staff.

I have been honored this year both to have served as your President and to have worked beside such high caliber of professionals represented on your Executive Committee, Board of Officers, and very importantly, our wonderful FPCA staff. Thank you so much for granting me the privilege to serve you.
