Down to Business

Once again, the summer conference has proven to be a great success. The South Broward Chiefs did a wonderful job, my thanks to them, once again, for putting together a conference that far exceeded all expectations.

But, now that all the celebrating is done, it is time to get down to business. We will be working on the framework for our Business Plan for the next year and our two-year Strategic Plan. As you know, legislative focus is of the utmost importance to our mission "To enhance the Quality of Law Enforcement Services in the State of Florida." Fiscal soundness is critical and our focus on training for sergeants is an extremely valuable effort.

Our relationship with the Florida Sheriffs continues to improve. I had a chance to stop by the Florida Sheriffs Conference at Sanibel Island, to reaffirm our intentions to continue to improve our partnership with the Sheriffs in addressing the concerns of the Florida Law Enforcement Community.

Our committees continue to play a strong role in our Association. We have asked each of you who is currently on a committee to reaffirm your willingness to continue to serve in that capacity and have inquired as to whether or not you would like to participate on other committees or change committees. We need your help if we want to continue to strengthen the vision that we have set forth.

We have heard from many of you already and I thank you for your willingness to serve. We will be publishing the committee assignments within the month. If you are interested but are not presently on a committee, please email Hal or Amy.

As the summer winds down, I hope you are all getting the opportunity to spend a bit more time with your families. I wish you all best, and thanks for your continued support.
