We've just completed a successful IACP conference in San Diego, California, and Florida was well represented.
As usual, the conference was centered around training, with participants having a wide choice of informative sessions to
choose from. We Floridian's may not have been too used to the weather, as it was somewhat cooler there than we've come to
expect, but nonetheless, once we got beyond the rain on Friday, we enjoyed clear and sunny weather through our stay.
Our Tuesday Florida Chiefs breakfast was well attended, with almost 100 delegates, spouses and vendors in attendance.
Congratulations were extended to Chief John Skinner of Port St. Lucie. His agency was recognized during the conference as
being a finalist for the Webber Seavey Award, IACP's most prestigious. Once again, I'd like to congratulate John on his
agency's achieving that high distinction.
My thoughts now turn to the upcoming holiday season. By the time you will have received your edition of "Florida Police
Chief", Thanksgiving will have already come and gone. I hope you and yours enjoyed that festive holiday.
As we enter the Christmas season, I again hope and pray that you and yours will have a Merry Christmas, that you will
have had the opportunity to look back on 2000 with pride for personal and agency achievements, and toward 2001 with great
anticipation for better things yet to come.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
