December 1, 2001 108th I.A.C.P. Toronto, Canada On October 31, 2001, Chief Bill Berger of the North Miami Beach Police Department was installed as the 108th President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). What an incredible accomplishment. Chief Bill Berger, whose tremendous energy, intelligence, and drive brought him to the top of his profession, made the City of North Miami Beach, the Florida Police Chiefs Association, and the State of Florida proud. Sunday evening's extravaganza, the Florida Police Chiefs reception at Casa Loma (where all Florida Chiefs wore their orange shirts); Tuesday evening's Host Chiefs Night, where everyone was treated to a spectacular presentation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Toronto Mounted Police, several bag pipe bands, and then a major effort involving all units was incredible; and Wednesday's installation of Bill Berger as the 108th President of I.A.C.P. capped a tremendous several days for the State of Florida. At the Florida Police Chiefs Breakfast on Tuesday morning (thank you Martin's Uniforms) Chief Bill Berger presented plaques to Chiefs Stephan Dembinsky and Marshall Gage for their efforts at Casa Loma; to Bill Liquori for his mentoring; and to our F.P.C.A. Executive Director, Hal Robbins, for his excellent job performance in successfully guiding this whole operation. Bill Berger's installation was a classy affair for a real gentleman who is not only completing law school, doing some consulting, serving as Police Chief in a busy city, and fulfilling the requirements of 1st Vice President, while preparing himself for the Presidency of the I.A.C.P. Congratulations Bill Berger for a great effort and good luck in your year as President of the I.A.C.P. Special congratulations to Chief Edward Morely and the Stuart Police Department for winning the Webber-Seavey Award. You make Florida look even better. Looking forward to seeing you all at the Winter Conference January 13 - 16, 2002.
