Florida Police Chief Magazine

We Welcome:

  • Any nonfiction articles that may be of interest to law enforcement professionals-particularly police management officials in Florida.
  • Articles concerning new products and services for law enforcement.
  • Announcements for police-related seminars, conferences, and classes.
  • Employment ads for any law enforcement personnel (employment ads for Florida police chief positions are free with a Job Central ad; all other position open ads are $1 per word for the first 100 words, 50 cents per word for each word over 100).

Writer's Guidelines:

  • Manuscripts must be typed and double-spaced.
  • Manuscripts submitted on both hard copy and disk (3-1/4 inch only) are greatly appreciated. If submitted on disk, please use a Windows- compatible program such as Word or WordPerfect.
  • Articles should have headlines. Articles longer than 600 words should have subheads when appropriate.
  • Pages should be numbered.
  • Extensive footnotes and references should not be used.
  • Articles can range from l00 to 2,500 words.
  • A brief biography (three to five lines) should accompany the manuscript, and authors should include their name and title as they would like to see it in the magazine.

Photos and Art Specifications:

  • Photos, charts, graphs, and other illustrations to accompany articles are strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
  • Photos can be either color or black and white. They should be clear and focused.
  • Photos should come with captions, or some sort of identification.

Deadlines:

  • The magazine is put together two months before publication. For example, in March, we are working on the May issue; please take that into account when submitting copy or photographs.
  • Publication of an article can take up to six months.
  • The Florida Police Chief does not pay for articles, but does provide a complimentary copy of the issue in which the article appears.
