The Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM), University of
North Florida, was established in 1980 for the purpose of providing
management, traffic and specialty training to municipal, county, state and
federal law enforcement officers. IPTM offers a variety of management and
specialty courses in community policing, drug law enforcement, police
discipline, field training officer programs, media relations, internal
affairs, traffic crash investigation, selective traffic law enforcement,
laser and radar speed enforcement and street gangs.

IST has trained thousands of law enforcement officers through our training division;
The National Intelligence Academy (NIA). NIA is based at IST's corporate headquarters
in Deerfield Beach, Florida. NIA conducts basic and advanced training. This training
includes, but is not limited to, audio/video surveillance, covert lock neutralization,
microwave, digital enhancement, computer technology, and surveillance methods. The
National Intelligence Academy, in conjunction with the National Technical Officers
Association (NATIA) offers an accredited Technical Investigators program. NIA has
unique training programs developed to meet the needs of a variety of law enforcement
