    The City of Quincy Police Department is seeking individuals who are interested in joining a dedicated, professional and committed team of law enforcers.  This position requires individuals who understand the value and concept of working in a team environment and is committed to serving the Quincy community.  Job responsibilities include and are not limited to, standard patrol, enforcing criminal and traffic statutes, police within a community oriented policing environment and employ pro-active policing techniques for the protection of life and property.  In addition, the incumbent must have a working knowledge of conducting preliminary investigations, preservation of crime scenes and coordination with other agencies in the prosecution of criminals.

    Minimum Education and Experience:

    • Any combination equivalent to H.S. diploma or G.E.D.
    • Must have a valid state of Florida police officer certification.
    • No criminal history - no felony charges, arrests or convictions
    • Must have strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Products: Word and Excel).
    • Must have a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
    • Required to live within a thirty mile radius of the police station.

Must pass oral board interview; complete polygraph, drug, medical and psychological testing; and pass a thorough background investigation.  As of the date of hire, must have completed the basic recruit curriculum or an equivalency of training course at a Florida law enforcement academy.

    EDUCATION:

    • Completion of minimum standard courses set by Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission prior to being certified as a Police Officer or attendance at a certified police academy.
    • Prefer supplemented college credits in a discipline recognized by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Ability to understand the principles and practices of police work and to understand and enforce laws and ordinances relating to police work.
    • Ability to observe situations objectively and to report them clearly and completely.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
    • Background and personal history standards as established by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
    • Possession of a Valid Florida Operator or Chauffeur License.
    • Requires a high degree of physical fitness and extreme physical exertion.
