    Possession of a Bachelors Degree and eight years of professional experience in law enforcement work in a sworn capacity; or three years of college and nine years of professional experience in law enforcement work in a sworn capacity; or two years of college and ten years of professional experience in law enforcement in a sworn capacity. Four years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity in a law enforcement agency.  A Masters Degree in business or public administration, criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology or related field may substitute for one year of the required sworn experience.  Deadline: Open Until Filled.

Must pass oral board interview; complete polygraph, drug, medical and psychological testing; and pass a thorough background investigation.  As of the date of hire, must have completed the basic recruit curriculum or an equivalency of training course at a Florida law enforcement academy.

    Lateral Pay Plan is available for Pre-Certified Applicants.

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma or Florida approved GED.
    • Completion of minimum standard courses set by Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission prior to being certified as a Police Officer or attendance at a certified police academy.
    • Prefer supplemented college credits in a discipline recognized by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Ability to understand the principles and practices of police work and to understand and enforce laws and ordinances relating to police work.
    • Ability to observe situations objectively and to report them clearly and completely.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
    • Background and personal history standards as established by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
    • Possession of a Valid Florida Operator or Chauffeur License.
    • Requires a high degree of physical fitness and extreme physical exertion.
